Garut is a fraction of Limbangan area in 1813. On 15 September 1813 the construction of capital facilities and infrastructure, such as homes, halls, resident assistant offices, mosques, and the square began. In front of the hall, between the town square and the hall there is a "Babancong" in which the Regent and other government officials gave speeches in public. After it was completed earlier, the Capital District Limbangan moved from Holy to Garut around 1821. Based on the Decree of the Governor-General of No: 60 dated May 7, 1913, the name was changed to District Limbangan Garut regency and have a capital city of Garut on July 1, 1913. At that time, Regent RAA is Wiratanudatar (1871-1915). Garut city at that time included three villages, namely the City Kulon (West City) villages, Wetan City (City East) Village, and Village Margawati. Garut Garut district includes, Bayongbong, Cibatu, Tarogong, Leles, Balubur Limbangan, Cikajang, Pakenjeng, Bungbulang and Pameungpeuk. In 1915, RAA Wiratanudatar succeeded by his nephew Duke Suria Karta of Legawa (1915-1929). On August 14, 1925 decision by the Governor-General, Garut regency government issued a stand-alone (autonomous).
