Electricity is Almost Connected to a Nuclear Power Reactor

Electricity is Almost Connected to a Nuclear Power Reactor, The technicians can almost restore the electrical connections to the cooling system at Japanese nuclear power complex that was hit by the quake, officials said.

Electricity is Almost Connected to a Nuclear Power Reactor, The engineers are expected to connect the new power to four of six reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi NPP, north of Tokyo, on Saturday afternoon.

The earthquake and tsunami that caused crippling NPP cooling system, raises concerns about radiation leaks.

Nearly 7200 people known to have died in the disaster on 11 March. About 11,000 others still missing.

The authorities started to build temporary homes for several hundred thousand people who remained in evacuation centers.

Many residents who survived had to deal with cold temperatures without water, electricity, fuel and enough food.
Alert level raised

The firefighters continued to spray water to cool the fuel rods which become too hot and dangerous in an already complex NPP Fukushima old. This is done to prevent melting.

Storage of fuel rods that have been used also require a constant supply of water.

The technicians now have connected the power cord to the outside of the NPP. The connection cable is still done in, in an attempt to revive the water pump in four of six reactors.

A nuclear safety agency official said, "We were assigned to restore power in numbers 1 and 2 today.

"Reactor number 5 and 6 will also be electrified today. They are scheduled to restore power to the number 3 and 4 tomorrow (Sunday)."
